Always include the patient’s full name and the room number if you have it
Some hospital units have restrictions on flowers (particularly NICUs and some maternity wards) — if in doubt, a plant or a gift basket is a safe alternative
Hospital stays after birth are short; if the family has already been discharged, we can redirect to the home address
